Bismuth
AI-native modernization for legacy Microsoft systems in manufacturing and industrial operations.
No rip-and-replace. No $3M ERP migration. Built by people who've spent 20 years inside these systems — and know exactly where the bodies are buried.
The name
Bismuth is element 83 — the heaviest stable element. Closest in the periodic table to Moscovium (115), a synthetic element that only exists for milliseconds. Bismuth is real, durable, and has been doing its job long before the flashy synthetics above it were invented. That's the MS legacy stack. It's not glamorous. It's load-bearing. And when you look closely — bismuth crystals are iridescent. There's more in there than it looks like from the outside.
The factory is still running on duct tape.
Legacy Dynamics NAV. Custom SQL Server middleware nobody wrote documentation for. SharePoint sites from 2009 holding critical process docs. .NET applications that run the floor and haven't had a major update since the Obama administration.
Tribal knowledge bottlenecks
Three people know how the system actually works. When one retires, operations grind to a halt.
Integration debt
Dozens of point-to-point integrations holding together systems that were never designed to talk to each other.
AI left at the door
Modern AI tools can't connect to what you're running. The stack predates the APIs.
We don't replace the factory. We wire it for the future.
Bismuth is Carborundum AI's engagement model for enterprises running Microsoft-stack operations — Dynamics 365, Azure, SQL Server, .NET — who need AI capabilities without blowing up what's already working.
Legacy Stack Audit
We map what you're actually running — every integration, every custom component, every tribal knowledge dependency. Full operational picture before a single line of code changes.
AI Layer Integration
We bridge your existing MS stack to modern AI capabilities — without replacing your ERP. Tesa-class agents that understand your data, your processes, your edge cases.
Modernization Roadmap
A prioritized, risk-ranked plan for moving from legacy to AI-native — in phases that keep the floor running while you upgrade.
Manifold Integration
Where it fits, we move you onto the Manifold platform. Where it doesn't, we extend what you have. No forcing functions.
AI Governance Framework
We define who your AI can act for, what it can authorize, and what requires a human signature. Every deployment ships with an accountability structure — audit trails, override protocols, checkpoint requirements.
We don't just wire AI in. We wire in accountability.
Manufacturing and industrial AI deployments aren't demos. They authorize actions, log decisions, and move physical things. Every deployment needs a governance structure — or it's a liability waiting to happen. We built our own constitutional framework for AI agents. We bring that same framework to every client deployment.
AI Decision Audit Trails
Every AI action is logged — what triggered it, what it decided, what it authorized. Full traceability for ISO 9001, SOX-adjacent, and OSHA compliance reviews. Your auditors will have everything they need.
Human-in-the-Loop Checkpoints
We define exactly where AI stops and a human signs off. Critical process steps require a human signature. AI advises. Humans decide. No exceptions for high-stakes actions.
Authorization & Accountability Frameworks
Who can your AI act on behalf of? What thresholds require escalation? We define the constitutional rules for every agent we deploy — before a single line of integration code is written.
We've been inside these systems longer than most vendors have existed.
20+ years of Microsoft stack delivery at scale — manufacturing, logistics, industrial operations. We know the difference between a system that looks stable and one that actually is. And we know which shortcuts from 2007 are still running your floor.
