Terms

What it means to use this site, the platform, and our services.

Last updated: 2026-05-02

The full Carborundum AI Terms of Service are in legal review and not yet active. Until they are, this page describes — honestly — the terms we're operating under today. If there's a gap between this page and our future formal Terms, we'll update this page first.

Who we are

Carborundum AI is a Texas-based software holding company. We operate carborundum.ai and a small set of related properties, and we build the Manifold platform along with the consumer sub-brand Foundry Familiars. The team is described on /team.

Use of the marketing site

You can read carborundum.ai. You can quote it with attribution. The text and code on this site are ours; the trademarks (Carborundum AI, Manifold, the element-named modules, Phoenix, Foundry Familiars) are also ours. Don't copy the site wholesale to claim it as your own product or company.

Use of Manifold

Manifold is sold under separate, signed customer agreements. Those agreements govern the platform itself: licensing, support, data ownership, payment, and uptime. Nothing on this page replaces or modifies those agreements; if there is a conflict, the signed agreement controls.

Manifold customers own their operational data and can export or delete it. See Privacy for the data side.

Acceptable use

Don't use our services to break the law, harass people, exfiltrate data you don't have rights to, or scrape the platform in ways that destabilize it. We can suspend access where we believe a service is being abused. For Manifold, the acceptable-use specifics live in your customer agreement and in the in-product policies.

No warranty for vaporware (because there isn't any)

Our constitution is short and binding: we do what we say, and we only say what we do. If a product or feature is described on this site, it exists. If it's not described here, don't assume it does. If you're evaluating us based on something a sales conversation or a third-party article claimed, ask us to confirm in writing first.

Limitation of liability

The marketing site is provided as-is. The platform's liability terms live in the customer agreement. To the extent permitted by law, neither this site nor any informal communication on it creates a service guarantee that overrides a signed agreement.

Changes

We'll update this page when the formal Terms of Service are activated, or sooner if our practices change. If a change is material, we'll surface it via the newsletter and on our public update channels.

The honest part

The formal Carborundum AI Terms of Service are in our governance set as a v0.1 draft awaiting Scott's review and outside legal review before they become the binding document. This page exists so that what we say publicly matches what we actually do today, while that formal review is finishing. When the Terms are activated, this page will link to them.

We do what we say. We only say what we do.
